La erosión es la pérdida del material de suelo en un lugar concreto del paisaje. En Uruguay, dicho material es transportado predominantemente por el agua y en menor medida por el viento. Dos factores determinan este fenómeno: la erosión natural y la antrópica. La primera se explica básicamente por el agente erosivo de la lluvia, las características del suelo y su vegetación natural.
Los cambios ocasionados por la erosión alteran las propiedades del suelo, modificando negativamente sus propiedades físicas a través de la reducción de la infiltración
y provocando un aumento del escurrimiento. En situaciones en las que el suelo se encuentra cubierto, el impacto de la lluvia sobre la pérdida de sedimentos es menor. Tal es el caso de las situaciones en las que se realiza siembra directa (SD) donde el suelo queda cubierto por los residuos de la vegetación anterior, difiriendo de los casos de laboreo convencional
(LC). |
